Friday update
Creighton and fellow bubble members anxiously are following today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what to look for:
Memphis needs to win.
Virginia Tech losing was extremely key. Tough calls down the stretch in that one, as well. Hokie fans are surely not pleased.
South Carolina (in progress as this is typed) must lose. They trail by one point with 13:00 left.
Xavier needs to beat Temple. Should Temple win, the Owls almost assuredly jump ahead of Creighton.
Dayton needs to win. And then win tomorrow in the A-10 final, preferably against Xavier.
Texas winning would be nice. Baylor winning the Big 12 tourney would be a disaster.
Wake Forest needs to win. Maryland wins that game today, they are ahead of Creighton.
Utah State winning would be nice. If they do not win the WAC, the Aggies could turn into an at-large ahead of Creighton.
USC is an interesting case. Most people had them out heading into the Pac-10 tourney. A win today over UCLA probably puts them ahead of Creighton, but the Trojans may already be ahead of Creighton and a loss doesn’t hurt them. Who knows?!
Wyoming can’t win the MWC tourney.
So, a ton of variables here. As of this moment, it looks like Creighton would be in the NCAA tourney. But a lot of things still have to go right.
Northern Iowa fans meanwhile, are rooting for Auburn, which would make UNI look better should Auburn turn it up and win the SEC tourney.
